About Me
I was born and grew up in the Isle of Man, the eldest of two children. I always loved to read poetry and fiction and I wrote my first poem when I was about 5. I started writing poetry seriously on my 30th birthday and haven't stopped since.
I am currently living in Exeter. Until a few years ago I worked as a psychodynamic counsellor in private practice in Taunton. I retired from counselling in order to focus on my own writing. My last collection, Days of Fire and Flood, was published in 2005 and has long been out of print. In the autumn of 2019 Indigo Dreams published my latest collection, The Uninvited.
I am also learning to play the fiddle after a lifetime of loving music but holding a belief I could never learn to read it or play an instrument myself. I have proved myself wrong and can now reveal what many of you already know - with persistence, anyone can do it! Though we're not talking violin concertos or fast fiddling here. Not yet. It's just that sometimes I hit most of the right notes and oh what joy. It rivals writing a poem that I'm satisfied with.
I run two Contemporary Poetry Reading and Discussion groups on regular Saturday mornings with members from several different counties and roving venues in Taunton, Bridgwater and Exeter. Please contact me if you are interested in joining either of these groups.
